The purpose

Dinner Chit Chat has been developed to create conversation, as a family, around the dinner table. It’s that simple. The questions are varied and simple so all ages can discuss. There are no rules, no order and no wrong answer. Try adding the cards to a bowl, as a ‘lucky dip’ and take it in turns to answer each question, sometimes answering only one, sometimes ten! Your family will learn to share their own opinion, be heard, ask questions and actively listen.

The reason

As a single parent with young children, dinner time became a chore and often focussed on how and what they were eating rather than quality family time. Now they ask for our question bowl and often fish out the ones they want to answer that day. Some days there are many questions, and sometimes we have one question that leads to a complete tangent and we discuss something else, but it engages us all. These cards teach them how to ask questions, listen to others and also share something about themselves… the art of conversation!
